The shop can also service and repair a variety of vacuum pumps e.g. Edwards, Fisher Maxima, Leybold Trivac Pumps, HyVac, Precision Scientific and Welch Director and Duoseal Models.
Machine shop has four Instrument Designers and a variety of tool room machines such as lathes, two and three axis CNC mills, ID-OD and surface grinders, TIG (Heliarc), and MIG welders for Stainless Steel and Aluminum, AC-DC welder for general welding applications and Electropolishing unit for small Stainless Steel parts.
Science Machine Shop is one of the two located at W.S.U. (the other being part of the College of Engineering), work is accepted from outside of College of Science as a service to the university community; however, College of Science work receives first priority. Work from outside of the university that cannot be billed to a university account is not accepted. We can, however, suggest machine shops in the area that may be able to help you.
