Currently, the 3 primary functions of the SNS are to promote neuroscience education and stimulate "brain awareness" through:
- Community outreach events including -
- Brain Awareness Day at the Detroit Library and Detroit Science center
- Neuroanatomy presentations with real brains at metro Detroit elementary, middle, and high school science classes by SNS graduate students and faculty from multiple departments.
- Sponsoring a neuroscience lecture series and professional development colloquia. All of our lecture events are free and open to the general public. We're gearing up for another of our lecture series in the new year - check back here for updates in the weeks to come.
- To provide opportunities for professional, educational, and social interaction among faculty and students in the different departments and labs conducting neuroscience research.
